nubia Play with 144Hz refresh rate screen, ICE2.5 cooling, and 5G now official

On schedule, ZTE's nubia brand has launched the nubia Play, a mid-range smartphone with an advanced type of display, cooling system, and 5G.

The nubia Play boasts a 3D curved glass back with unique patterns and a vertically-aligned camera hump with crystal-like shape in Black, Blue, and White colors.

The highlight of the phone is the display. It goes with a 19:5:9 6.65-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution, super-smooth 144Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, up to 4096 levels of automatic brightness adjustment, DCI-P3 color gamut, In-Display fingerprint reader, and super slim bezels with no notch, punch-hole, or pop-up cam.

The nubia brand managed to include a 12MP shooter in the front on the slim top bezel for a neat-looking front design.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by the 2.2GHz 7nm EUV Snapdragon 765G chip paired with Adreno 620 GPU, 6GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.1 storage, and 5,100mAh battery with USB-C 30W PD fast charging support.

To keep the performance in check, nubia added a powerful type of cooling system, the ICE2.5 rack-mounted liquid cooling system. It uses  61mm large liquid cooling tube, thermally conductive graphite, gel, copper foil, etc. that can bring down the temperature by up to 16 degrees C.

For cameras, it has a 48MP f/1.75 Sony IMX582 main cam + 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide cam + 2MP f/2.4 macro cam + 2MP f/2.4 depth camera + LED flash.

The phone also has dual-touch game trigger keys for a better gaming experience, 1217 Linear Speaker, DTS audio, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 5, 5G NSA/SA, 4G LTE, NFC, dual-band GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and dual SIM slots.

nubia Play runs with Android 10 OS with the nubiaUI 8.0 skin.

Basically, this is a mid-ranger with tons of gaming-focused features.

China pricing of nubia Play

The device is now available for pre-order in China with very attractive price tags. It will go on sale starting April 24, 2020.

6GB/128GB - CNY 2,399 (around PHP 17.2K)

8GB/128GB - CNY 2,699 (around PHP 19.4K)

8GB/256GB - CNY 2,999 (around PHP 21.5K)
