More health-focused features with Galaxy Watches

Samsung has been developing health-focused features for its smart devices over the years. The latest one is an app for its Galaxy Watch wearables that measures and records blood pressure.

Recently cleared by the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), the Blood Pressure monitoring app uses the Galaxy Watch's optical heart-rate sensor and uses pulse wave analysis to determine the user's blood pressure. Users need to calibrate the app by performing an initial measurement with a stand-alone blood pressure monitor. To improve accuracy over time, users may need to calibrate once a month.

After the initial set-up, all users have to do is press "measure my blood pressure" on the user's Galaxy Watch. Readings will be recorded and will be viewable by the user at the Galaxy Health app on the paired mobile phone.

Samsung recommends using the Galaxy Watch Active2.
