After a series of leaks, Meizu has officially unveiled its 2020 flagship phones, the Meizu 17 and 17 Pro.

Basically, the Meizu 17 and 17 Pro are virtually similar except the materials used in their bodies. Meizu 17 uses a glass back while the 17 Pro goes with a more premium ceramic back design.

Both use a 6.6-inch third-generation Samsung-made polar edge full-screen Super AMOLED display with FHD+ 2340 x 1080 resolution, 390 ppi, 19:5:9 screen aspect ratio, 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, In-Display fingerprint scanner, 2.99 mm small punch-hole, and 2.2 mm ultra-narrow bezel. It made the phone have a massive 92.2 percent of screen-to-body ratio.

Inside, the phones load with the 7nm Snapdragon 865 octa-core processor with up to 2.84GHz clock speed and Adreno 650 GPU. Meizu 17 comes with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB UDS 3.1 storage. The Meizu 17 Pro boasts 8GB LPDDR4X RAM with 256GB UFS 3.1 storage or 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

The Meizu 17 phones are equipped with a 4,500mAh battery with USB-C 30W Super mCharge fast charging technology that can charge the phone to 56 percent in just 30 minutes. The Meizu 17 Pro gets an extra 27W wireless charging.

For cameras, the Meizu 17 goes with 64MP f/1.8 Sony IMX686 primary camera with 6P lens, 8MP f/2.2 Samsung 4H7 sensor with 118-degree ultra-wide-angle lens, 5MP f/1.9 Samsung 5E9 sensor, and 6 LED ring flash.

Meizu 17 Pro highlights a 64MP f/1.8 Sony IMX686 camera, 32MP f/2.2 Sony IMX616 129-degree ultra-wide-angle camera with 3cm macro, 8MP f/2.4 OV08A10 3x telephoto camera, and a 3MP f/1.4 S5K33D ToF sensor, and the 6 LED ring flash.

For selfies, the devices sport a 20MP f/2.2 shooter. The two also go with stereo ultra-linear speakers, WiFi 6, 5G NSA/SA (Qualcomm X55 modem), 4G LTE,  Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS (L1 + L5), and dual nano SIM slots.

The M17 phones also sport the mSmart 5G optimization solution that promises 8-hour of 5G battery life.

The phones measure at 160 x 77.2 x 8.5 mm and weighs 199 (17) and 219 (17 Pro) grams.

Meizu 17 will be available in China starting May 8 while the 17 Pro will be available from May 11.

Meizu also released the Collectors Edition 17 Pro that will be available from May 25 and the Aircraft Carrier 17 that will be available from May 27.

There's no word about the international availability of the phones yet.
