The service will be initially available to Globe Platinum and Postpaid subscribers. The local telco giant said that it will be made "progressively accessible" to more areas in Metro Manila and even to Prepaid customers.

To enjoy 5G on your Globe Platinum and Postpaid or postpaid plan, you need to have a 5G-ready device first. Some of the devices that Globe offers with 5G are the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G, and the Huawei P40 series.

Soon, more affordable 5G capable devices will be available.

In case you are wondering, the current Globe 4G LTE SIM cards are 5G-ready. This makes the shift to the new technology quick and hassle-free.

Globe also said that customers will not be charged for connecting to the 5G network. The usage will be from the customer's Postpaid or Platinum plans data wallet allocation.

The pandemic transformed how we do everything, from how we manage businesses to how we learn, how we take care of our health, how we socialize, how we entertain ourselves. A powerful internet connection is important at this time, and Globe is ready to enable our subscribers to succeed during these trying times with the rollout of this highly-anticipated technology,” says Albert De Larrazabal, Globe’s Chief Commercial Officer

To recall, Globe is also the first telco company in the country and Southeast Asia to introduce 5G technology after launching the AirFiber to its broadband customers.
