Report: PH prepaid mobile data per GB is among the most affordable in Southeast Asia

Contrary to earlier beliefs that mobile data is expensive in the Philippines, GlobeICON showed an infographic stating otherwise.

For Prepaid Promos, the average price per GB in the Philippine just PHP 11.25. Basically, it is lower than the PHP 190.59 in Thailand, PHP 35.6 in Singapore, and 32.76 in Indonesia. Based on the data, only Malaysia is cheaper at PHP 4.86 per GB.

Just recently, Globe introduced new Go promos which include the Go50 for students with 5GB open data + 1GB GoWiFi + 1GB apps. That's a total of 7GB for PHP 50 or just around PHP 7.1 per GB.

Smart, on the other hand, the GIGA Pro promos starting at PHP 199 with 6GB open data + 3GB every day for 7 days or a total of 21GB. It is equivalent to around PHP 9.47 per GB.

These new promos suggest that mobile data in PH are getting more affordable amid the ongoing 4G LTE upgrades and 5G rollout.

Globe Telecoms President and CEO Ernest Cu said in 2019 that almost all Globe prepaid users in the country are subscribed to promos, making data price affordable and beneficial to the consumers.
