Alleged 6nm MediaTek MT6893 scored higher than Dimensity 1000+ in GeekBench!

MediaTek is allegedly launching three new 6nm SoCs that include the upcoming MT6893 that is manufactured by TSMC.

MediaTek's worldwide presence increased dramatically because of its Dimensity 5G chipsets. The company wants to continue the trend and back in October, the company was reportedly bringing three new SoCs that include the MT6893 and MT6891 with the Cortex-A78 CPU cores.

Last week, an Engineering product with the 6nm MT6893 SoC was listed on GeekBench and scored 886 in single-core tests and scored 2948 in multi-core tests. When compared to the flagship Dimensity 1000+, the new 6nm SoC scored higher in both single-core and multi-core scores.

To recap, the Dimensity 1000+ is the current flagship SoC from MediaTek and it supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.0 storage. 

Today, SparrowNewss and GizmoChina report that the reliable Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station revealed thru Weibo that the MediaTek MT6893 6nm chipset will be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. The new 6nm SOC will feature 1 Cortex-A78 CPU core at 3.0GHz, 2 Cortex-A78 CPU core at 2.78GHz, 4 Cortex-A55 CPU core at 2.0GHz and the Mali-G77 GPU.

There is no word yet on the launch date and no word yet whether the upcoming MT6893 will support LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage.
