Globe eyes boosted 5G coverage

Its 5G network has been launched in more cities in the country's capital, Globe said in a statement.

The Ayala-led telco noted it was on course of hitting its target to cover around 80 percent of Metro Manila.

We have a very active 5G development in Metro Manila and we hope to cover 80 percent of that soon. We are probably in the two-thirds range right now, said Gil Genio, Globe’s chief technology and information officer.

Aside from Metro Manila's reach, Globe is also deploying the service to select areas in Visayas and Mindanao: Bacolod, Boracay, Iloilo, Talisay, Lapu-Lapu, Cordova, Minglanilla, and Cebu City in the Visayas; and in Davao City and Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao.

Subscribers should have 5G-ready SIMs and 5G-capable smartphones to experience Globe's faster connections.

Are you guys excited to try 5G?
