TikTok's heartwarming message to the typhoon victims

To help in funding NGO's efforts in rebuilding the affected communities

Many Filipinos experienced a lot of hardships when back-to-back typhoons hit the country. Super Typhoon Rolly (Goni) devastated almost two million Pinoys in the southern region. Ten days after that, Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco) struck several areas, including those provinces that got affected by Typhoon Rolly. Not to mention, there were widespread flooding and power outages in  Metro Manila and certain areas in Central Luzon.

Because of these disasters, a lot of organizations are working with LGUs to mobilize and provide help to those families who were affected. One of these private organizations is TikTok.With its aim to inspire creativity and bring happiness, TikTok guaranteed its donation of USD 300,000 (more or less PHP 15M) to aid typhoon relief and rehabilitation.

In that amount, USD150,000 is given to Philippine Red Cross to mobilize efforts in distributing hot meals and urgent needs in affected places. Chairman of the Philippine Red Cross Senator Richard Gordon noted,

The Philippine Red Cross is always committed to reaching out to the helpless and to the most vulnerable. TikTok’s donation will surely go a long way in further strengthening PRC’s humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of those who were impacted by the recent calamities. You can be sure the Red Cross will continue to be there for the people affected.

This coming November 28, 2020, at 7 PM, TikTok is going to host a virtual live fundraising concert called #TikTokTogetherPH. It will feature artists such as The Itchyworms, Mayonnaise, Kyline Alcantara, Rico Blanco, and Ella Cruz among other guests. The earnings from this event will be turned over to partner organizations. It will help raise the pledged amount of TikTok's donation for this cause.

Thank you, TikTok!
