Meet SD865++ (SD870)

Snapdragon 870 still uses the Kryo 585 cores (ARM Cortex-A77). But, the clock speed is not up to 3.2GHz. It is higher than the 2.94GHz of the regular SD865 and 3.1GHz of the SD865+. This also has a higher clock speed versus the main core of Huawei's Kirin 9000 with 3.13GHz.

To complete its octa-core setup, this chip is paired with 3x Cortex-A77 and 4x Cortex-A55.

The GPU is still the Adreno 650. But, it is unclear whether it has an increase in speed like when 587MHz to 670MHz sleep of SD865 to SD865+.

For NPU, this goes with the Hexagon 698 + Tensor Accelerator with the same 15 TOPS.

For 5G, the chip doesn't come with a built-in 5G similar to SD865 and SD865+. Instead, it can be paired with the Snapdragon X55 5G modem with sub-6GHz and mmWave support up to 7.6 Gbps speeds.

The chip also comes with up to 1440p 144Hz or 4K at 60Hz with HDR10+ screen support, Spectra 480 ISP for up to 200MP cam as well as 8K 30fps videos, and FastConnect 6800 system supporting WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX.

FastConnect 6800 is slightly lower than FastConnect 6900 of the Snapdragon 865 Plus with WiFi 6E.

Building upon the success of Snapdragon 865 and 865 Plus, the new Snapdragon 870 was designed to address OEM and mobile industry requirements, said Kedar Kondap, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Snapdragon 870 will power a selection of flagship devices from key customers including Motorola, iQOO, OnePlus, OPPO, and Xiaomi

This slightly revamped chip of Qualcomm is designed for phones in the sub-USD 800 (around PHP 38K) price point. Motorola, iQOO, OnePlus, OPPO, and Xiaomi in Q1 2021.
