On Weibo, Huawei just confirmed that its newest foldable smartphone is coming—The Mate X2.
Based on its teaser image, the launch will happen on February 22, 2021.
The photo showed that the device will have an inward folding screen similar to the Galaxy Z Fold2 instead of the outward folding implementation of the Mate X and Mate Xs.
An earlier report noted that Huawei's screen suppliers for this phone are BOE and Samsung.
The foldable device is said to feature an 8.01-inch internal folding screen with 2480 x 2200 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen won't use the UTG (ultra-thin glass). Instead, it will be using the scratch-resistant CPI (colorless polyimide).
It will also have a secondary screen with 6.45-inch screen size and 2700 x 1160 resolution.
For cameras, the device will be equipped with a 50MP + 16MP + 12MP + 8MP quad-camera setup. This includes a periscope telephoto lens that supports 10x hybrid optical zoom.
An MIIT certification showed that the phone has a built-in 4,400mAh battery and 161.8 x 145.8 x 8.2 mm body size. 3C certification noted that it will support a 66W SuperCharge USB-C solution.
This is not confirmed yet, but the device is expected to arrive with the 5nm HiSilicon Kirin 9000 chip with Bluetooth 5.1 tech and EMUI 11 Android skin.
