Meet Find X3 Pro!

Coming from the impressive Find X2 Pro last year, Find X3 Pro 5G brings numerous improvements in design, specs, and cameras.

This handset promises to provide one of the best design, color-accurate screen, super-fast performance, and a near no-compromise camera system.

We have been using the device for a couple of days now, and here's what we initially think about it.

Read on.

Unboxing/Accessories

The device arrived in a grey-silver box showing the OPPO Find X3 Pro 5G text along with the number 3 logo. Inside, you will see another box. It contains the FREE flexible matte dark grey case, SIM ejector tool, Safety Guide, and a black-colored OPPO International Warranty Service card.

Next is the phone itself with a pre-installed plastic screen protector. Underneath the phone is the 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 Flash Charge along with the USB-A to USB-C data/charging cable and USB-C earphones with a microphone.

Build Quality/Design

Glossy back
Glossy back

The OPPO Find X3 Pro reminds us of the iPhone, but an iPhone from the future.

The back panel of this handset is made out of beautiful curved glass. OPPO said that it took them 40 hours to create a single piece of this glass ensuring its high-quality finish.

The unit that we have is the Gloss Black version with a ceramic-glaze-like appearance. But, there is also a Blue option with an anti-glare frost matte finish making it resistant to fingerprint smudges.

As expected, since this has a high-gloss finish, it is prone to fingerprint smudges. The back of the phone also has support for wireless charging up to 30W.

The camera hump is like an inverted iPhone 12 Pro Max camera hump, but it is extra smooth and it doesn't generate dirt unlike the camera island of most phones today. This houses the phone's quad-camera configuration, flash, and the 3rd microphone.

When you activate the Microscope mode of the camera, the leftmost camera in the middle will show an LED ring light.

For us, while beauty is subjective, what they did behind this phone is stunning. This look is a HUGE upgrade coming from a lot of phones last year.

Our only comment, there's no mention of glass protection behind. So, it will be better if you will use the in-box case if you are a clumsy type.
Stunning display
Stunning display

In front, it looks similar to the Find X2 Pro. It also goes with a 6.7-inch curved screen with super-slim bezels and a left-aligned punch-hole housing the 32MP selfie camera.

But, OPPO upgraded the type of panel is using. It is now equipped with an LTPO Super AMOLED screen w/ 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and QHD+ 3126 x 1440 resolution at 514 ppi.

This type of screen has an Adaptive Refresh Rate of 5 to 120Hz. That's better even compared to the Galaxy S21 Ultra. OPPO also boasts that this is a true 10-bit "Billion Color" display.

Out of the box, it is arguably the most impressive display we have ever seen on a smartphone yet.

On top of the screen is the earspeaker that acts as the secondary speaker to enable stereo sound. On the lower portion of the screen, it has an In-Display fingerprint reader.

The frame of the device is metal with a nice glossy finish. This also has IP68 water and dust resistance.

On top of the phone, you will see the first microphone of the device.

Below, you will be greeted by a pinhole to access the dual SIM slot with a red rubber ring, the secondary microphone, USB-C port, and the primary speaker.

The volume rocker (up and down) is located on the left side of the device while the power key is found on the right side of the phone.

It measures 163.4 x 74 x 8.26 mm and weighs 193 grams. This phone is generally handy and very comfortable to hold.

As expected, the back cameras are superb. Most of the first few photos we took are highly detailed with great dynamic range. OPPO highlights that this supports 10-bit colors.

The best part, it is color accurate. The difference in colors from the main camera to the ultra-wide camera is minimal. The main cam is just a bit warmer. But, this is still very impressive. This is thanks to OPPO's use of 2x Sony IMX766 camera sensors for the main (wide) and ultra-wide cameras.

The difference in colors will only be visible when you switch from the main cam and zoom camera. The zoom camera makes the colors lighter than the actual image.
Microscope mode

This also has a "Microscope" mode using the microlens and it is fun to use despite being a gimmicky feature.

In low light, superb! This arguably has the best Night mode for the main (wide) and ultra-wide cameras that we have tested yet.

The selfie camera generally performed "okay". However, it is soft versus the selfie cam of other flagship devices we tested. But at least, it has a Night mode for selfies in the dark.

For videos, this records up to 4K 60fps at the back and 1080p 30fps (sadly) only in front. For the back camera, you can record up to 60fps 1080p Ultra Steady and Ultra Steady Pro (ultra-wide) stabilized videos. In front, it has up to 30fps 1080p Ultra Steady.

It also has a Video Expert mode and up to 1080p Slo-mo. It isn't super-slow mo though.

This is not yet our camera review. We will be using the phone more to fully and accurately observe what else its cameras can do.

As of the moment

We are highly impressed with the new OPPO Find X3 Pro.

The design and craftsmanship are fantastic, speed is excellent, thermals are generally okay so far, battery life is decent, charging is super-fast, the back cameras for photos and videos are top-notch, 5G works with PH telcos, and it has plenty of other subtle features that make the experience impressive.

We just noticed a few kinks in its armor (nitpicks) such as the no mention of glass protection at the back, the lack of super zoom as well as super slo-mo, and its lower resolution video recording for the selfie cameras.

But other than that, this is a superb true flagship offering from OPPO.

In Europe, this retails for EUR 1,149 which is roughly around PHP 66.5K out of straight conversion.

Traditionally, the PH pricing of phones is lower than in Europe. If ever OPPO will bring this here with a lower price tag, this will might undercut the likes of the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
