DOH: "The procurement was put on hold pending market research of the prices of the laptops"

As a recap, the Department of Health posted a photo of the bid bulletin's information with links for more information on its official Facebook page. As we all know by now, the number one items on the list were the laptops.

According to the document posted,  the total budget for the laptops was a total of PHP 700,000. This is for four sets of "high-end 2-in-1 laptops with accessories". With this much money allotted for just laptops, the netizens grew curious about how powerful these laptops were.

We did our research! To fit the 2-in-1 with accessories description, we found the Acer Spin 5 SP513-54N-53X8 on Villman Computers' site with PHP 49,999. Why this laptop? Well, this has a 13.5-inch display with 2256 x 1504 resolution and an 80 percent screen-to-body ratio. It runs on the Windows 10 Home powered by 10th Gen Intern Core i7 processor, Intel Iris Plus GPU, 8GB LPDDR4 SDRAM, 1TB PCle SSD, and 4 cell Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) battery.

It also comes with an Acer Active Stylus and a touch screen display. For every purchase of Acer Spin, the following freebies are available: Microsoft Office 2019 Home and Student (Pre-installed) and Acer One 8 T2 Tablet (claiming) worth PHP 6,500.

Yes, PHP 49,999 only. For all of that. If the Acer Spin 5 wins the bidding then the DOH can save as much as PHP 500,000 with freebies to boot.

Again, remember that if a bidder or a supplier can present four laptops that fit the DOH's requirements, the said bidder will win the bidding. The "high-end laptop" could also be Mac or Windows OS, however, there are no 2-in-1 Macbooks available in the market.
