Davao to enjoy reliable internet delivered by Globe

In a statement, the dominant telco player said Globe will deliver quality connectivity through its GoWiFi and KonekTayo WiFi services, allowing more Filipinos in the country's largest city to be more informed and connected amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Its president and chief executive officer Ernest Cu said extending the group's technology was one way of supporting Davao City's digital transformation journey.

We remain steadfast and focused on the vision of the city government to fulfill a better and more connected Davao City, and enable the efficient delivery of services to its people through accessible and affordable internet services, Cu was quoted as saying in the statement.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, in a recorded video, acknowledged the critical role of having fast internet to keep up with the changing times.

Truly, the future is online, and it is for this reason that we are grateful for internet service providers like Globe for ensuring that the people of Davao are in step with the rest of the world and that we are on track towards progress and development in the rise of the digital age, the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte said.

Globe is set to equip Davao City Hall and Davao City People’s Park with GoWiFi to allow staff members and the general public to conduct essential online activities conveniently and remain connected for free.

GoWiFi, the largest WiFi service in the country, is now covering over 3,100 locations across the Philippines and is available to all users regardless of network provider.

On the other hand, Globe KonekTayo WiFi, a public community WiFi data service, will be deployed in Bucana, Sasa, and SIR Village 1 and 2. By going to any KonekTayo hotspot, community residents can connect to the internet at speeds of up to 20 Mbps for an affordable cost.
