Slam Dunk is officially coming back!

To recap, the last Slam Dunk film Hoero Basukettoman Tamashii!! Hanamichi to Rukawa no Atsuki Natsu was released in 1995. The last episode of the TV anime series was aired on 1996.

It's a Japanese sports manga series written and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue. It tells the story of a basketball team from Shōhoku High School in the Shōnan area of Japan. Hanamichi Sakuragi is the main character of the series. Arguably, it is the most popular basketball anime in the world.

On Twitter, the official account of the Slam Dunk Movie shared a teaser showing a glimpse of the artwork of the film.

To excite fans more, Slam Dunk creator Takehiko Inoue will be writing and directing the upcoming full-length film. It will be released in 2022.

There is no word about the story of the movie yet. No one is sure of it will be a reboot of the anme or will act as a sequel. Let's wait and see.
