Microsoft outs the Surface Duo 2 with Snapdragon 888 with 5G and a triple camera set-up!

Surface Duo 2 is now official. It's Microsoft's second version of its foldable Android phone sporting a dual 5.8-inch display, triple cameras, and others.

The new Duo 2 has a similar design to its predecessor Microsoft Surface Duo but the company made significant improvements. It comes in two colors, Glacier and Obsidian.

A huge 8.3 screen display as a result when the two displays are combined

In front, there are two 5.8-inch AMOLED screens with 1934 x 1892 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. When they are combined, it becomes an 8.3-inch display with 2688 x 1892 resolution. It has 800 nits of brightness with a layer of protection from Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

Moreover, the displays appear to be slightly curved on the inner edge. When the smartphone is folded, the curves can be seen from the outside and they light up if there's a notification.

Inside, the Surface Duo 2 is equipped with the 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with 5G that is paired with an 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and three internal memory variants: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. 

Aside from that, it is powered by a 4,449mAh battery with a 23W USB-C fast charging support but lacks wireless charging technology. The company noted that the charger must be purchased separately.

At the back, the device features a triple camera set-up with a 12MP f/1.7 main wide, 12MP f/2.4 2x telephoto, and 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens. It can also record videos up to 4K 60fps or up to 1080p 240fps.

The Surface Duo 2 also supports the new Surface Slim Pen 2, which can be magnetically attached to the outside of the device to charge. It runs on Android 11 out of the box.

The Surface Duo 2 starts at USD 1,499.99 and it is available for pre-order today in the United States. There's no news yet if Microsoft will release this in other countries as well.
