Counterpoint: realme is now the world's 6th largest smartphone vendor

Counterpoint Research today revealed that 3-year-old brand realme is now the world's 6th largest smartphone vendor.

In just 3 years!

For the first time ever, the brand took the sixth spot with 15 million shipments and 135.1 percent YoY growth in Q 2021. The brand achieved this feat in just 3 years.

realme achieved this by expanding in over 61 markets worldwide and ranking as a top 5 brand in over 18 markets. In the Philippines, the brand took the number 1 position in Q1 and Q2 of 2021 in multiple global research firms.

Rise of realme

realme is also the fastest to reach 100 million shopped smartphones as per research firm Strategy Analytics in Q2 2021 as well.

Top 6 brands worldwide

Only a few brands are ahead of realme at the moment. It includes Samsung at number 1 with 57.6 million units shipped, Xiaomi at number 2 with 52.5 million units shipped as well as 98.5 percent growth, Apple at number 3 with 48.9 percent growth, OPPO at number 4, and vivo at number 5.

 

In the past three years, we are like a newborn calf making little of a tiger as well as a real go-getter, said Founder and CEO Sky Li in his open letter, noting that the young team with an average age of under 29 has encountered a wide range of unknown difficulties but remained determined and passionate to bring extraordinary products to young trendsetters worldwide.

realme said that it also has taken bold moves in its business strategy such as globalization from the start, closely listening to consumer demands, and integrating advanced technologies in beautifully designed and user-friendly products.

The brand was also the first in the segment with a  pop-up camera, the first Android ecosystem with magnetic wireless charging tech, and one of the first with a 108MP camera.

The next goal of the brand is to achieve a dual-100 million target by shipping another 100 million handsets by the end of 202 and completing the same milestone within the 2023 calendar year.

realme will also continue to streamline its multiple product lines and optimize its technological offerings. 

Going back to the Philippine market, realme tomorrow (September 23 at 6 PM) will introduce two new "disruptive" devices in the country called realme GT Master Edition and realme Book.
