How did DITO fare in our gaming and streaming test?

In fact, the company now has more than 3,300 cell towers up and running across the country. This year, the company even commits to spending PHP 50 billion for network upgrades alone.

Moreover, they have big data offers at very attractive price points and have added a lot of supported devices.

In addition, its partnership with different streaming services and gaming companies allows it to offer easy ways to recharge, buy in-game stuff, and avail of subscriptions via the DITO app.

As a result, as of February, it already gained 6 million mobile subscribers.

But, how are their efforts so far? Here is our experience.

How is our gaming and streaming experience with DITO?

Our DITO SIM card
Our DITO SIM card

Our DITO SIM card is currently in our Samsung Galaxy S21 5G. We are currently located somewhere in Antipolo and we constantly get around 3 to 4 bars of reception in our home.

In terms of speed, we average around 100-115Mbps down and 10-20Mbps up. We get an average of 15-20ms ping with around 65ms jitter.

Ookla's Speedtest app recommended 2160p or 4K resolution to be suitable for our video streaming with our speed. This is great compared to other networks that struggle in our home.

The package we bought was the DITO 25GB High-Speed Data package worth PHP 199. It comes with 25GB of high-speed data, unlimited DITO-to-DIRO Calls, unlimited texts to all networks, and 300 minutes of calls to other networks. It is valid for 30 days. Registration was easy via the DITO app too!

Gaming Experience

Good ping in games!
Good ping in games!

In terms of gaming. We played three games namely Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Pokemon Unite, and League of Legends: Wild Rift. Between the three games, DITO was able to maintain around 35-40ms ping.

The key thing here is consistency. Not jumping from 30ms to 190ms is very important for gaming. Those are the reasons for lag and freezes. No input latency as well.

Overall, for gaming, depending on your location, DITO gives us a very good experience.

Media Streaming Experience

Netflix was smooth with no buffering
Netflix was smooth with no buffering

In terms of media streaming, we used DITO for Netflix, YouTube, and Spotify. We watched an episode of "All of Us are Dead" in HD on Netflix with no problems. It did not need to buffer as well. In terms of YouTube, I always played videos in 1080p. There are a couple of times that it buffered but not that rampant at all.

Spotify was able to play and download playlists at the highest quality settings as well with no problems. This performance is quite good and consistent.

Our thoughts

Overall, our experience with DITO in our daily usage is very good.

Signal strength is consistent and reliable in our area. Speeds are also consistent along with the ping. It was able to stream HD content with no hiccups or buffering as well.

We can recommend it if your area is covered and you have a VoLTE-ready device.

By the way...

DITO also offers subscription packages to its streaming partners such as HBO Gp, Vivamax, and WeTV. Here you can watch Hollywood classics, Pinoy classics, as well as Korean and Chinese dramas.

In addition, you can also top-up your Garena account with Garena shells and Diamonds for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. This is made possible via using your DITO load credits and getting vouchers from UniPin.

DITO is also encouraging its users to check out its official Facebook page to keep updated on offers and promos.

What do you guys think?
