Trump launches own social media platform called "Truth Social"
Former US President Donald Trump recently launched its own social media platform called "Truth Social", a year following his Twitter ban due to the "risk of further incitement of violence".

Truth Social is now live, but far from perfect
Online publication The Verge described the app as a shameless Twitter clone with a rocky start as it suffered plenty of glitches, outages, and other issues as well as a waitlist "due to massive demand" which topped Apple's download charts last Wednesday.
The new social media app is said to be a platform that is "free from political discrimination".
Truth Social is a social media platform created by Trump Media & Technology Group, an American media, and technology company founded in February 2021 by former US President Donald Trump. The Truth Social platform is based on Mastodon, a free and open-source distributed social network.
The app is now available for download via Apple App Store and Google Play Store. In just 1 day, it achieved 170,000 downloads as per AppTopia with several prominent right-wing figures in the US already active in the platform.
Following its launch, Trump Media and Technology Group shares increased by 20 percent.
In the US, many mainstream media labeled the former US President as a peddler of fake news.
