In particular, the company behind TECNO, Infinix, and itel recorded a combined market share of 39.7 percent with a big 53.4 percent YoY (year-on-year) growth for the top spot.
The surprise at the number 2 is Xiaomi with 14.2 percent and a 35 percent YoY growth.
South Korean tech firm Samsung is at number 3 with 12.6 percent.
vivo and realme followed with 10 percent and 8.8 percent for the numbers 4 and 5, respectively.
Unlike in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, where OPPO is usually ranked number 2 or 3, the smartphone giant is not in the top 5 in the Philippines. HONOR, which has been making a lot of noise recently, failed to enter the top 5 as well.
The entire Southeast Asian region registered a 2.7 percent growth, led by strong growth in Malaysia (7.8 percent YoY growth and the Philippines (17.2 percent YoY growth).
Overall shipment in the region is up by 2.7 percent.
During the period, TECNO launched several interesting, affordable camera-focused mid-rangers like the
TECNO CAMON 40 Series. Meanwhile, Infinix showcased the capable mid-range gaming-focused
GT 30 Pro and
NOTE 50 Series. Meanwhile, Xiaomi bannered several POCO devices, including the
POCO F7 Series.
For the entire region, the premium USD 800+ segment recorded a double-digit YoY growth, indicating that consumers seek higher-quality devices for longer usage, while cautious consumer sentiment supported the growth in the lower-end segment in the region.
