The new Infinix GT 30 Pro is here, and it is probably the most exciting smartphone, especially for gamers, at this price point.
Infinix GT 30 Pro Review - Over specs, All-day 120 FPS, affordable price tag
The new phone to beat for the price?

In our unboxing and initial impressions article, the handset impressed us with its build and design, particularly in how slim and sleek it looks for a gaming-focused smartphone, the display, and, of course, the strong initial performance and cooling capabilities.

After more than a week of use, here are our final thoughts.

Arguably, class-leading performance

AnTuTu, Geekbench
AnTuTu, Geekbench

On casual usage, we never had issues. It is FAST, highly responsive, and can run ALL of the social media apps and tools we use for content creation, communication, and other work.

That is to be expected as it is equipped with the 3.35GHz 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate octa-core processor with Mali-G615 MC6 GPU, the fastest processor found on officially available smartphones at this price point.
Wild Life Extreme, AI Bench

Infinix even paired it with 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5X physical RAM, which you could extend up to 24GB virtually and 256GB/512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. These are some of the newest memory options designed to help in optimizing multitasking experience, read/write speeds, and making the overall smartphone performance better.

In my experience, this device was able to maximize the capabilities of its specs thanks to its cooling system, the 3D Vapor Cloud Chamber Cooling (3DVCC).

On more demanding tasks, such as running games on higher settings, the device barely heats up even after an hour of use. Even after doing stress tests on several benchmark apps, it is only warm.

Benchmark scores

AnTuTu - 1,396,531
Geekbench - 1,227 Single-Core Score, 4,016 Multi-Core Score
3DMark Wild Life Extreme - 2,957 Overall Score, 17.71 Average frame rate
AI Benchmark - 3,911

Speaking of benchmark scores, this handset recorded some of the fastest scores for the price. Just a year or two ago, these were considered near flagship-level.

The consistent 120 FPS promise is legit

As expected, running Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a piece of cake, even on the highest settings possible. This is probably the reason why it was selected and certified as the official MPL Official Tournament Phone and the phone of choice of the MLBB Esports team AURORA.

I never had any issues running PUBG Mobile and Standoff 2 as well. The experience is smooth, and there are no noticeable frame drops. Again, even the thermals are usually good.

Note that I'm not someone who plays competitively, but when I asked my brother Peter Paul, who plays way more games longer than I do try this, he said that he was happy with the performance.

Even on more demanding games like Genshin Impact, playing on the highest settings available is possible, especially with its Gaming Kit. Experience won't be as smooth as the other games certified to run at 120FPS, but it is more than playable, and that is a remarkable feat on a smartphone priced this low.

Of course, phones in the 25K and above range will be better than this. But again, this phone has a PHP 13,999 starting price. For the price, this is a GREAT gaming phone.

List of games with 120 FPS certification on Infinix GT 30 Pro

  • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB)
  • Call of Duty Mobile (CODM)
  • PUBG Mobile
  • Honor of Kings (HOK)
  • Standoff 2 (up to 144 FPS)

Speaking of its Gaming Kit with MagCase and MagCharge Cooler, which are both designed to improve the thermals of the phone, the experience is even better.

While the RGB lighting of its MagCharge Cooler is mostly just for aesthetics, the device could actually cool your phone. It is quite cold when I tried putting it on my cheeks. It is akin to having a mini freezer at the back of your phone, literally.
The MagCase with MagCharge cooler

Based on my experience, the phone barely had heat when it was attached, as this promises up to 30 percent better cooling than standard air-cooled accessories.

In addition, it doubles as a magnetic wireless charger up to 15W, so your phone never runs out of juice while gaming.

Both the case and the cooler are ergonomically crafted so users can press the triggers easily, and the RGB cooler won't get in your way while playing. The magnet is also quite strong, so it won't fall that easily while playing games.
Extreme Mode On
Extreme Mode On

Moreover, it automatically sets the phone to Extreme Mode On, which will allow users to access even Performance mode in the XBOOST without worrying about heat.

XBOOST allows users to access Power Saving, Equilibrium, and Performance modes.

You can also customize and maximize the haptic GT Triggers here. Even its sensitivity could be adjusted here.

The triggers are highly responsive. Infinix said that it can do up to 520Hz. We find it good for doing combos. Users can even create custom combos to help them with their strategies.

By the way, the GT Triggers may be used as a camera shutter and for quick access to media playback.

Other features of the XBoost include Screen Shot, Screen Record, Select & Search, Memory cleanup, and many more.
Esports mode
Esports mode

It even has the Esports mode to further optimize the performance of the phone's SoC for stable frame rates, connectivity, touch response, and more. It blocks notifications, calls, alarms, and more as well.

For connectivity, it supports up to WiFi 6E, 5G SA/NSA, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and plenty of GPS bands. It also has a 360-degree antenna ensuring that you get a better signal for for stable internet connection, either via WiFi or mobile, which is crucial when playing online games.

Also, it comes with an IR Remote that you can use to control your TV, Air Conditioner, and more.

Security features include an accurate In-Display fingerprint reader that works even when the display is slightly wet and the usual face unlock.

In the battery department, the handset is loaded with a 5,500mAh battery. This is 500mAh bigger than the GT 20 Pro last year, and it shows.

In gaming, it can last for about 14 hours of straight usage with a combination of daily social media tasks, occasional gaming, and using its cameras. Then you will still be left with approximately 20 percent in the tank.

Under heavier tasks, like heavier games such as Genshin Impact, it consumes 4 percent of battery per 15 minutes while under Performance mode at 50 percent brightness. That's over 6 hours to about 7 hours, depending on the game you play.

Charging the phone from 0 to 100 percent usually takes us 50 minutes to 1 hour. This also supports up to 30W charging, but again, the MagCharge Cooler only supports up to 15W, so we weren't able to test it.

This even has Bypass Charging to help with its battery health and cooling, as well as reverse wired and wireless charging, allowing the phone to act like an emergency power bank.

Software and AI

By default, the handset runs with the Android 15 operating system with XOS 15 skin on top.

This comes with an MLBB character wallpaper, but with a fairly clean and snappy overall user interface.

Bloats are fewer now, but you will still see a few pre-installed apps. Ads for some apps may appear in the notifications.

With the help of AI, users may create wallpapers with words, or they can even reinvent their own images and make them their own.
Infinix AI
Infinix AI

Of course, it has the Infinix AI pre-installed with Folax Voice, Folax Smart Touch, Call Assistant with real-time translation, automatic call summarization, and answering calls, Translation Assistant, Document Assistant, AI Note, Recording Summary, AI Cutout, AI Visual Enhancer, Circle to Search, and many more.

While it could be better, the Infinix pledged 2 years of major OS updates and 3 years of security updates.

Best display for the price

A very nice display
A very nice display

The Infinix GT 30 Pro has some of the most beautiful displays we've seen around.

As mentioned in our impressions article, it has a super slim bezel with rounded corners akin to much higher-priced smartphones. Alongside its large 6.78-inch screen size and overall display quality, this makes it one of the most immersive screens for the price.

Accurate touch, super immersive display

While not flagship-grade, the panel used on this phone is a good quality AMOLED with punchy colors, nice contrast, and deep blacks. This panel is also sharper than most in its price as it uses a 1.5K 2720 x 1224 resolution at 440 ppi.
Super immersive display
Super immersive display

It also has a 144Hz refresh rate that helps make animations and transitions look smoother, and supported games feel more fluid. This is the highest refresh rate for the price.

Moreover, it has a peak brightness rated up to 1,300 nits, making it visible even under direct sunlight.

The touch on this panel is also mostly accurate. It comes with up to 240Hz touch sampling rate and 2160Hz instant touch sampling rate.

For audio, the device arrived with a stereo speaker configuration. Speaker quality is not as thin as other similarly priced smartphones. To my ears, this can even compete with some more expensive mid-rangers. It sounds quite full with nice clarity. Distortion will only be noticeable at 90 percent and above loudness.

It also has Hi-Res Audio certification that works for both wired via USB-C and wireless, if your Bluetooth headphones support it.

The microphones it uses are okay for voice calls and voice memos. It is also usable for recording voices on your video shoots, but don't expect too much. It may fail to block wind and background noises.

Decent cameras for a gaming phone

The back cameras
The back cameras

Cameras are not the strongest suit of this phone. But it has decent numbers.

At the back, the Infinix GT 30 Pro is equipped with a 108MP f/1.89 main shooter paired with an 8MP f/2.2 111.4-degree ultra-wide-angle camera.

Camera Samples

Main cam 1x
Main cam 1x

Under good to decent lighting, its users will be able to enjoy high-quality snaps, particularly with its 108MP main shooter. Autofocus and shooting speed are also reasonably fast, allowing its users to take nice and sharp images most of the time, even indoors. The color tone produced by its main camera is mostly warm.

By the way, one cool thing is that when you use the timer, the light at the back (Mechanical Light Waves) will serve as an indicator.
Ultra-wide is now available
Ultra-wide is now available

One upgrade over its predecessor is that it now has an ultra-wide camera. While it won't be as good as its primary shooter. This is decent for the price, with minimal color drop when used indoors. It can even focus on light sources fairly well.
Decent zoom (1x vs 3x)
Decent zoom (1x vs 3x)

Going back to the primary camera, it can do up to 3x lossless zoom. While there are artifacts and some noise, most with untrained eyes will not notice it. AND that's not bad for a gaming-focused smartphone. The maximum zoom range is 10x, but I won't recommend using that.

Even if you don't use the Portrait mode, close-up shots would have a nice background blur.

The artificial Portrait mode has decent edge detection as long as you don't have messy hair. Even the default beauty mode is not too much and will still retain the details of your skin.
Night mode 1x, ultra-wide
Night mode 1x, ultra-wide

In low light, use the night mode to get respectable shots. It could have been better.
Selfie snaps
Selfie snaps

For selfies, the 13MP f/2.2 snapper is fairly respectable. It is mostly okay for selfies with a wide enough field of view for groufies.

I also liked that it is fairly detailed, even for challenging indoor shots. The color tone is similar to its back cameras as well.
Portrait selfie
Portrait selfie

Even the Portrait selfie mode with beautification is not too much. There are artifacts, but it is more than usable with decent edge detection.

This is not bad for a selfie cam.

For videos, this is one of the very few that records up to 4K 60fps for the price. While there is no OIS, it takes respectable videos that creators could use for TikTok as long as they have a tripod or steady hands. If you are okay with a little bit of crop, it has an Ultra Steady mode with decent stabilization and fairly smooth panning capabilities.

Even for selfies, it records up to 4K 30fps. The quality again is decent if you use the Ultra Steady mode.
AI Studio
AI Studio

AI Studio includes AI Sharpness Plus that enhances the sharpness of images, AI Eraser, and AI Extender that smartly expands your images and fills missing parts.

Pros - Minimalist and slim design for a gaming phone, durable materials, official IP64 rating, one of the fastest phones for the price, superb gaming performance, good battery life with bypass charging, nice thermals even without the magnetic cooler, stable connectivity, competitive pricing
Cons - Software support duration could have been longer

Verdict

If mobile gaming is your priority, the Infinix GT 30 Pro more than delivers for the price.

This is arguably the most capable gaming-focused smartphone in its class that we have tested recently, thanks to its strong specs, nice thermals, and good actual optimizations to provide a nice mid-range gaming performance

Even if you are not a gamer, let's say you randomly received this smartphone as a gift, it might be more than enough for casual users.

The phone feels premium, fairly slim, and it looks good with a stunning immersive display. it also has reasonably long battery life, stable connectivity performance, and a smoother overall experience than nearly all officially available smartphones for the price.

While cameras are not its strongest suit, they are decent enough for everyday snaps.

It isn't perfect, but very few can match what it offers, especially at this price point.

If this device ticks the checkboxes of what you need, just buy it.
