Xiaomi's version of Liquid Glass
The new version adopts a glass-based design language, with the system rendering realistic light refraction effects.
The updated interface also introduces additional lock screen customization, allowing users to rearrange the clock and notifications, resize folders, and group widgets.

Furthermore, it supports smoother transitions between portrait and landscape modes, and floating apps will rotate automatically to match orientation.
Xiaomi says it has optimized the system's internals to improve app loading speed. According to internal testing, after nine hours of use, app loading is approximately 18% faster compared to HyperOS 3.
Meanwhile, this is also aided by an AI-based prediction system that preloads anticipated resources into RAM before they are requested.
The company has also updated its HDR processing, reducing photo processing time from roughly 310ms to 240ms, and shortened the camera app's cold startup time by about 200ms. Video playback has reportedly been improved as well, with dropped frames largely eliminated.

HyperOS 4 will incorporate Xiaomi's in-house large language model, MiMo, through a feature called "Super AI Assistant 2.0."
The assistant is designed to handle voice transcription, note organization, photo album search, travel planning, and control of smart home devices and vehicles.
For more complex requests, the assistant uses the "Xiaomi Super Island" interface near the front camera to indicate it is processing a request before displaying a full results screen.
Xiaomi has also introduced a feature called "Inspiration Ball," a draggable pointer that provides contextual actions—for example, dragging it over an address can launch navigation, or dragging it over a product image can trigger an online search. This feature may not appear in the global version of HyperOS 4, as its functionality overlaps with Google's Circle to Search.

Public beta testing for HyperOS 4 is set to begin on August 14, likely limited to China initially. The devices receiving this beta are expected to largely match those that will later receive the global beta release.
