HONOR launches Magic4 Ultimate with a 50MP + 64MP + 64MP + 50MP back camera config!
Former Huawei sub-brand HONOR today launched the most powerful variant of the Magic4 series—the Magic4 Ultimate.

According to HONOR, the new Magic4 Ultimate is equipped with its "best innovations as an independent company".
The main highlight of the device is its use of a very powerful quad-camera system at the back boasting the world's first Dual Free-Form Lens. The company is also boasting that it has a range of cutting-edge camera innovations that massively improve photography and video capture experiences.
In particular, the device is equipped with a 1/1.12-inch sensor 50MP f/1.6 Wide Camera with a customized 8P Lens + 64MP Ultra-Wide camera with Dual Free-Form Lens + 64MP f/3.5 Periscope Telephoto Camera with OIS + 50MP f/2.0 Spectrum Enhanced Camera.
HONOR claims that its main camera with an 8P Lens can rival even 1-inch sensors. It comes with a 37 percent improvement in center sharpness, 30 percent improvement in edge sharpness, Ultra Anti-Reflection (UAR) coating, and Infra-Red Cutoff Filter (IRCF) to minimize flare from light sources.
Meanwhile, the 64MP Ultra-Wide Camera has a 126-degree field of view. But, the distortion is just 0.5 percent (industry-low) due to its use of the world's first Dual Free-Form Lens.
The 64MP Periscope Telescope camera offers 3.5x optical zoom and up to 100x Digital Zoom.
HONOR also explained that its use of a 50MP Spectrum Enhanced Camera will allow the camera system to reveal more details in complex environments like mist.
Moreover, HONOR added a custom-made image processor. This is designed to allow the camera system to enjoy faster AI computations and even enable 4K Night Mode videos.
The handset also has the new Magic-Log2 professional-grade video format which enables capturing of 15 percent higher dynamic range for recording video footage. It also has the new 3D LUT (Look Up Table) support to allow HDR10+ video even in low light.
It also has a new custom-made image processor for faster and more efficient AI computations as well as the "industry's strongest" 4K Night mode video.
The result of this camera configuration is the device earned the number 1 spot at DxOMark's camera rankings by dethroning the Huawei P50 Pro.

For the rest of the specs, the handset is using an IP68 rated body for water/dust resistance in Black or White colorway, a large 6.81-inch new-generation LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1920Hz Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) dimming to offer a comfortable viewing. It also has a pill-shaped cutout to house a 12MP sensor with a 100-degree wide lens and a 3D depth sensor for secured face unlocking.
Inside, the device is powered by the 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship chip with a new-gen Adreno GPU. It is paired with 12GB RAM, up to 512GB non-expandable internal storage, 4,600mAh battery with USB-C 100W fast wired charging, and 50W wireless charging.
The device runs on Android 12 OS with the latest Magic UI 6.0 skin.

HONOR said that the device will arrive in the China market later this year. There is no info regarding its international release date yet.
