ASUS ROG Phone 6D series unveiled with MediaTek 9000+

ASUS reveals two gaming smartphones called the ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultra. Both of which have POWERFUL MTK Dimensity chipsets.

The new 6D variants

ROG Phones has MediaTek Dimensity versions!

The two new smartphones look identical to the other 6 Series variants in terms of design. They both strike a unique gamer-like vibe with an RGB logo on the rear. The Ultimate variant has a ROG Vision color PMOLED screen and the standard version uses an LED type for the logo.

The vanilla 6D

Upfront, both handsets have a 6.78-inch OLED screen with 10-bit color depth, 165Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support which are similar to the Snapdragon counterparts.

As mentioned above, the new change here will be that they are both equipped with a 4nm 3.05GHz MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ octa-core processor with Mali-G710 MC10 GPU.

The Ultimate edition

Another thing that differentiates the two devices will be the storage. The standard variant has 16GB RAM and 256GB. While the Ultimate edition will have 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

Their battery remains the same with a 6,000mAh capacity and charges using USB-C and 65W fast charging.

For photography, the sensors are also familiar such as the 50MP f/1.9 1/1.56 with 1.0µm pixels paired with 13MP f/2.2 for ultrawide shooting and 5MP as a macro helper. For selfies, it is using 12MP camera.

Other features are the AirTrigger 6 on the side of the phones, In-Display fingerprint sensor, IPX4 rating, and 3.5mm audio jack

Compatible with the cooler

Both have a cooling system, but the Ultimate version has an improved one. The back of ROG Phone 6D Ultimate has a special AeroActive Portal. This has a motorized hinge that allows a direct path to the phone's internal cooling components. When the AeroActive Cooler 6 is connected, it raises the assembly and instantly creates an airway. This enables the fan to dissipate heat much more effectively, resulting in a consistent performance.

For connectivity, they both have 5G, 4G, dual-band WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, and dual-SIM (nano).

The OS will be Android 12 with ROG UI and Zen UI on top.
