Razer announces the "Edge" which will be a gaming handheld. It will come in WiFi, cellular, and Founder's Edition models.
The main highlight would be its Qualcomm Snapdragon G3X Gen 1 chipset, which we first saw sometime in December last year. This is specifically designed for portable cloud gaming, after all, it will be the Edge's bread and butter.
When it comes to design it somehow resembles a combined Razer Phone and the Kishi V2 attached together. Except that it is a tablet that can also be removed from the gamepad.
The rest of the details are a 6.8-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, followed by 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB 3.1 storage, and a 5,000mAh battery. However, the charging speeds are not disclosed but it uses a USB-C port to charge it.
The camera only has a front-facing sensor with 5MP and can shoot 1080p 60fps videos.
Other features would be the telescopic gamepad with programmable buttons and vibration feedback, 2-way speakers, 2 digital microphones with THX Spatial Audio support, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Edge handheld has WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, 5G, and eSIM (cellular model only) for connectivity.
Comparing the three model's spec sheets, the WiFi variant and Founder's Edition are identical in hardware. The difference is that the latter gets a Razer Kishi V2 Pro TWS earbuds. The 5G model will have data connectivity and an added Sub 6, mmWave antenna.
For OS, it runs Android 12 with Google Play support, Xbox Game Pass, and Nvidia GeForce Now.
Razer Edge WiFI - USD 399 (around PHP 23.5K)
Razer Edge Founder's Edition - USD 499 (around PHP 29K)
Razer Edge 5G - TBA
The new handhelds are set to arrive in early 2023 for the US market. No word yet if they will come to the Philippines.
Stay tuned.
