Microsoft to update Windows 11 Phone Link with Instant Hotspot Access

In the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25231 released to participants of the Dev Channel of the Insider Program. The feature will automatically the user's smartphone on the WiFi network list once the Phone Link is opened. However, this is only currently compatible with Samsung Galaxy devices at the moment.

From this point, users can enable and connect to the device's hotspot with a single click on the Wi-Fi link. The user won't have to provide a password or access their smartphone's hotspot settings to use it. Just make sure that your smartphone and PC are already paired beforehand.

If you chose to participate in the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider Program and have Windows 11 version 22H2 Build 22621 or higher, you are able to install this preview build. The Phone Link desktop app will also need to be at least version 1.22082.11 or higher. Samsung Galaxy devices will also have the Windows Phone app version 1.22082.142.0 or higher too and One UI 4.1.1.

The PC will also need to be able to use both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Other updates included in the preview build include a tablet-optimized taskbar and System Tray improvements. There were also crash fixes for Paint and Windows Terminal.
