Musk said the new Twitter executive will take on the role in the coming weeks.

Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks! Musk tweeted.

Following the move, Musk said he then transition to be the executive chair and chief technology officer, overseeing product, software, and system operations.

To recall, Musk posted a poll in December asking his followers if he should step down as the company’s CEO. He noted he "will abide by the results of this poll."

Garnering over 17.5 million votes, the final verdict was for the billionaire to step down from his post.

Specifically, 57.5 percent voted "Yes," while 42.5 percent went for "No."

He then backtracked and said he would hand over the role “as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job!”

In February, he reiterated that he planned to find a replacement by the end of the year.

Musk has faced criticisms amid the policy changes being implemented on the social media platform.

Also among the controversies Twitter faced under Musk was the mass layoffs.

According to a CNN report, Musk recently said that Twitter is now "trending to breakeven," after saying it was at risk of bankruptcy.

The company's new CEO will now be tasked with trying to help turn around the struggling company and help Musk recover some of the USD 44 billion (around PHP 2.45 trillion) spent acquiring the platform.
