Report: HUAWEI Mate 40E Pro 5G to be updated for 2023
According to a report by HUAWEI Central, the tech giant is allegedly preparing to relaunch the HUAWEI Mate 40E Pro 5G for 2023.

A 2023 HUAWEI smartphone with 5G?
Back in early 2022, HUAWEI introduced the original HUAWEI Mate40E Pro 5G. It offered a 7.76-inch OLED display with a 2772 x 1344 resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Inside the 2022 smartphone is the HUAWEI HiSilicon Kirin 9000L chipset.
The 2022 model also comes with 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and a 4,400mAh battery with 66W fast charging. At the back are the Leica co-engineered cameras that are made of a 50MP f/1.9 super sensing wide camera, a 20MP f/1.8 ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP f/3.4 telephoto camera. While in front is the 13MP selfie camera. Running the show of the previous generation was HarmonyOS 2.0.
Now in 2023, a tipster called Uncle Mountain posted on Weibo that claims that the Chinese manufacturer is getting ready to launch a 2023 version of the aforementioned smartphone that has started its journey from zero. And that it had recently passed China's 3C certification and network license.
However, unlike the original, it will not have the Leica branding as the two brands have parted ways.
Uncle Mountain also claims that the device is already on the market with a live photo of the phone. He also says that there is no official promotion campaign online yet.
The big story here is it has 5G. If this is true, it means that the recent report about HUAWEI's return to the 5G smartphone market by the end of this year is also accurate.
This new 2023 model will allegedly be priced at CNY 6,499 (around PHP 49.4K) for the 8GB/256GB model while the 8GB/512GB will be priced at CNY 7,499 (around PHP 57K).
There is no current information on whether HUAWEI will make more changes to the smartphone.
