Legit Dabarkads, Madlang Kapuso: Historic movements in PH noontime shows on July 1

July 1 is definitely something to remember as the country’s biggest noontime shows start airing via their new homes.

As Filipinos welcome July, they also welcomed major movements in the noontime TV show scene.

On TV5, TVJ, and the "Legit Dabarkads" launched their new show "E.A.T." a month after they left TAPE Inc, the producer of "Eat Bulaga."

The cast opened the show by performing "Sugod" by Sandwich. They also sang a different version of "Eat Bulaga's" iconic theme song.

On the other hand, ABS-CBN's "It's Showtime" started airing on GMA's GTV.

Notably, the Showtime cast was joined by several Kapuso artists, namely Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, Mark Bautista, Pokwang, and brothers Rodjun and Rayver Cruz.

The two shows made it to the top list of trending topics on Twitter with some of the hashtags #GnaGsaShowtime, and #LegitDabarkads.

Many also watched out for the two shows via their respective Facebook lives, with "E.A.T." garnering more than 300,000 viewers, and "It's Showtime" over 50,000 viewers.

These historic events on Philippine TV came after the TVJ and the other former hosts of "Eat Bulaga" left TAPE Inc. and signed a deal to air on TV5.

"It's Showtime," which was then airing on the Kapatid channel, was offered a new time slot that it rejected. This announcement was followed by a deal between GMA and ABS-CBN to air the latter’s noontime show on GTV.

Meanwhile, TAPE Inc.’s "Eat Bulaga" continues to air on GMA with its new hosts led by Paolo Contis.
