HUAWEI's 5.5G available by 2024?
The group announced this at the Shanghai incarnation of the Mobile World Congress last week.
Yang Chaobin, Huawei's director and president of ICT Products & Solutions, expressed confidence that the company could lead "the beginning of the 5.5G era for the ICT industry."
However, the 3GPP, tasked to oversee the development in the telecommunications industry, has yet to declare 5.5G as a formal thing.
The HUAWEI executive also claimed that the Chinese tech firm is exploring ways to equip its 5G development with artificial intelligence (AI).
[Huawei] has been working on applying AI-native technologies to 5.5G core networks to continuously enhance network capabilities and availability, Yang said.
Here in the Philippines, while local telcos have been ramping up the deployment of their 5G networks, they have yet to cover the whole country.
The Philippines' major telco players are Globe Telecom, PLDT, and DITO Telecommunity.
Globe and
PLDT are well-known partners of HUAWEI.
