Counterpoint says about 55 million foldables will be shipped in 2025!

Foldable smartphones have grown in popularity in recent years, and there has been a lot of anticipation for product releases all around the world since the arrival of these types of devices. According to Counterpoint's study, some of its most notable findings include that global shipments of foldable smartphones will reach 55 million units by 2025, along with the recognition that global smartphone makers have made huge strides in this industry.

Counterpoint says Phone makers are strategically shifting their focus towards the premium category. Within this line of products, foldables have become a game-changing innovation and bring a unique consumer experience. Meanwhile, OPPO a renowned smartphone manufacturer says its contributions are reshaping the said industry.

The research firm continued that the aforementioned growth in foldable smartphones gets a projected Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 114 percent from 2019 to 2025. Since they mentioned we will see 55M unit shipments, this means that the figures were quadrupled from 2022.

Speaking of which, last 2022, China had a 26 percent share of the global foldable market beating all other regions in this regard to become the leader in this industry. Smartphone brands have aided growth by diversifying their product offerings, innovating technologically, and offering competitive pricing. This collaborative effort resulted in an astounding 199 percent Year-over-Year (YoY) increase in foldable smartphone shipments in 2022.

OPPO says that its products such as the Find N in 2021 and the Find N2 Flip have redefined the user foldable experience.

The Find N2 flip even boasts the industry-leading Flexion Hinge that makes it possible to have subtle creases alongside the fact that it can last up to 400,000 folds. OPPO even proudly says the N2 Flip had the biggest cover screen at 3.26 inches at the time of its launch. Its Flexform mode also allows users to use the main camera for selfies, groupies, and even for vlogging purposes.

Moreover, the N2 Flip was also the first fold to have 44W SUPERVOOC Charging and a huge 4,300mAh battery. Bigger than any of its competition during its launch date.

According to OPPO, these introductions of many first have resulted in them conquering the foldable market share in China by 15 percent and going up to 22 percent if you add the Find N2 as well.

Focusing on the ultra-premium market, foldable smartphones are predicted to have a global sales share of 16 percent by 2025, more than doubling from 7 percent today. Due to the premium smartphone market's enormous potential, overseas markets are now being targeted by major technological companies.

Additionally, from 2021 to 2022, the share of foldable shipping growth in the APAC region increased by 50 percent YoY. This is proof of the rising demand for these gadgets, which prompted companies like OPPO to release their Find N2 Flip in the area. The Find N2 Flip was actually well welcomed in APAC. In fact, OPPO's handset led the foldable smartphone market in Thailand in its first sales month, accounting for up to 55 percent of the market. This kind of response has only encouraged OPPO to develop in the foldable market and provide more high-end products for APAC users.

Finally, OPPO also boasts its latest generation of foldable products such as the Find N3 Flip which is set to arrive on Global markets soon. According to the brand, this will further elevate the next gen of foldable smartphone innovation.
