Alongside, the SDG3 and SD X Elite chips, Qualcomm announces new chips for wearables.
There are actually two chips introduced for audio. The Snapdragon S7 and S7 Pro Gen 1 both support Bluetooth 5.4. The S7 Pro delivers micro-power WiFi with a speed of up to 29Mbps to achieve a fast and high range far beyond what Bluetooth can do. Qualcomm also promises a seamless switching between Bluetooth connection and WiFi.
The S7 Pro Gen 1 can also deliver 192kHz support of lossless music thanks to the Qualcomm Expanded Personal Area Network tech.
Furthermore, the company claims users can listen to music or make calls while they walk around their home, any building, or campus in which a Bluetooth connection cannot.
Qualcomm says that the S7 and S7 Pro chips are capable of 6x compute power and 100x AI power by using a Micro NPU AI engine versus the previous generations.
The two platforms also use top-tier on-device AI as per Qualcomm. This will aid hearing enhancement technologies to bring a seamless user experience by knowing and adapting to user needs throughout the day.
Finally, there are multiple DSP cores on board and a sensor hub accompanied by a 300 percent improvement increase in memory when compared to S5 Gen 2.
