Samsung has officially introduced the successor to last year's Exynos 1380 which is built on the 4nm process that promises massive GPU improvements.

In early March 2024, Samsung launched the new Galaxy A35 and A55 5G mid-range smartphones. The latter of the two came with the new 4nm 2.75GHz Exynos 1480 octa-core processor.

Samsung claims that the new 4nm process offers 22 percent improvement in efficiency over the previous generation which should yield longer battery life. The brand also claims that it offers 18 percent multi-core performance.

It is equipped with a 2.75GHz Cortex A78x4 high-performance cores and a 2.0GHz Cortex A55x4 efficiency cores. Alongside are the AMD RDNA 2-based Samsung Xclipse 530 GPU and the AI engine with 6K MAC NPU.

The new GPU promises a massive 53 percent improvement over the previous generation's Mali-G68 MP5 GPU. 

The chip supports FHD+ displays with up to 144Hz refresh rate, UFS 3.1 storage, up to 200MP cameras, up to 4K at 60fps video recording, WiFi 6E, 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo.

As of this article's writing the Galaxy A55 5G is the only device with the new Chipset.
