DITO Telecommunity, the country's third major telco player, is optimistic about meeting its national population coverage target by July of this year.

DITO continues its aggressive expansion

Rodolfo Santiago, the company's chief technology officer, was confident DITO could secure its final performance approval from the National Telecommunications Commission this 2024 as its population coverage is expected to reach 84 percent from the current 82 percent.

But the official said the group’s goal is to hit 86 percent to 87 percent "before the end of the year."

For its broadband speeds, the telco carrier boasts 74.97 megabits per second (Mbps) for 4G and 693.32 Mbps for 5G.

To sustain this momentum, DITO is spending more than PHP 20 billion to finance its network rollout.

Our capex (capital expenditures) guidance will be tempered a bit. It should be anywhere between P25 billion [and] PHP 30 billion, said Eric Alberto, DITO chief executive.

With its aggressive expansion, Alberto said DITO hopes to grab a 15 to 20 percent market share this 2024. It has a subscriber base of 10 million users.

We are confident that with our better and brand-new network, we have reasons to gain our rightful share of the market, Alberto said.
