GCash waives convenience fees on load promos amid Carina onslaught until July 31

GCash, the country’s leading mobile wallet, moved to waive convenience fees for load promos worth PHP 59 and below as many Filipinos still reel from Typhoon Carina’s onslaught.

Convenience fees waived on the GCash app

In an advisory, GCash said this would run from Saturday, July 26, to July 31.

The waived fees would only cover customers affected by Typhoon Carina.

Before the typhoon left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday morning, many areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces were submerged in flood water as Carina intensified the southwest monsoon or habagat.

As a result, many households and establishments experience power outages and water service interruptions.

Authorities said the death toll due to Carina already reached 21.
