Efforts vs illegal gambling also intensified
Globe said the number of child pornography cases and illegal gambling sites that it was able to block has increased this year compared to last year.
From January to June 2024, the telco said it impeded 1,718 domains and 190,167 URLs related to child pornography. The numbers increased from 1,295 domains and 129,652 URLs recorded in 2023.
Globe also blocked access to 2,726 domains of illegal gambling sites, up from l 1,828 last year.
Sinisiguro ng Globe na ang mga programa ng kumpanya ay naaayon sa Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009 (Republic Act 9775). Ang batas na ito ay nag-aatas sa mga internet service providers (ISPs) na gamitin ang teknolohiya para maiwasan angaccess sa child pornography, Globe said.
Globe said it has invested over USD 2.7 million (PHP 151.2 million) in advanced content filtering systems to boost efforts against illegal content.
The company is also working with different organizations such as the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Justice (DOJ), Philippine Chamber of Telecommunications Operators, as well as non-government organizations to improve children's protection online.
US-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) said the Philippines is one of the major sources of Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) content.
Sa pamamagitan ng #MakeITSafePH campaign na inilunsadnoong 2017, nagsasagawa ang Globe ng educational programs at awareness activities para bigyang kaalaman ang mgamamamayan kung paano protektahan ang kanilang sarili online, the telco said.
