Send and receive money for FREE

Viber is soon making its digital payment service Viber Pay available in the Philippines.

This feature was launched in July 2022, providing users with a simple and secure way to transfer funds to one another within Viber. It was first rolled out in Greece and Germany, allowing users in these countries to activate their very own Viber Pay wallet and start sending money for free.

Filipinos can access Viber Pay prior to the full launch by updating their Viber app and joining the waitlist.

Here's how to join:

1. Open your Viber app
2. Go to the "Pay" tab below.
3. Complete your profile

Make sure that the details you enter are the same as those that appear on your ID. These data will be used to set up your wallet faster and will be stored for three months after the waitlist is closed.

According to Viber, its digital payment service allows users to send and receive money for free between Viber Pay wallets. Sending money via the app will be as easy as sending a message, Viber said.

Users will be able to add money to their wallet through e-wallet apps GCash and Maya, as well as through bank transfer, or over-the-counter, reports said. Viber Pay can be also used in businesses that accept InstaPay.

Accountholders can increase their transaction limit from PHP 50,000 to PHP 100,000 after verifying their account by uploading a selfie and a valid ID. Verifying one’s account also allows withdrawing funds and requesting money from contacts using a QR code.

Viber also announced that the Philippines will be the first to receive the Business wallet version. This lets businessmen receive payments from customers using a QR code and increases their transaction limit to PHP 500,000.

Setting up a Business wallet is the same as opening a personal Viber Pay wallet.

Viber partnered with digital payment provider Paynamics to create its digital payment service.
