Following the announcement of the ASUS Vivobook S 15, the brand has shared some tips on how to select the right AI PC.
ASUS has mentioned that starting a career can seem quite challenging such as the competition being fierce, and now, AI is becoming a factor. Although worries about AI endangering entry-level office employment are common, this viewpoint may not be entirely correct, the brand says.
The firm noted, that when computers first appeared, there were also similar concerns. Yet, these devices did not replace human jobs; rather, they became indispensable tools for workers. AI may be perceived in the same scenario, providing chances to harness it for personal benefit and to gear up for future job landscapes. To fully leverage the latest AI developments, having the right tools is crucial.
AI-Readiness
The initial step is to determine if the laptop is AI-capable. This can be easily done by checking the processor. A CPU with a neural processing unit (NPU) indicates that the laptop can manage AI tasks. Suitable options may encompass the newest Intel Core Ultra series processors, AMD's latest laptop CPUs with AMD Ryzen AI, or the Snapdragon X Series chips.
ASUS continued that when choosing an AI-Power chip, buyers should consider TOPS's (trillion operations per second) performance under its NPU specs sheet. It added the ideal number is 40 TOPs or higher. It's another plus if the laptop has a description of a Copilot+ PC. It only means the device is specially made to provide such AI activities alongside security, speed, and personalized options.
These laptops come equipped with the latest version of Copilot, Microsoft's personal AI assistant. They feature a dedicated Copilot key for easy access and include advanced Copilot+ features like Live Captions, and Cocreator, among others.
Insert ASUS AI PCs, the brand says they come equipped with an array of exclusive, smart tools designed to enhance user experiences. These tools include the ASUS StoryCube, the ASUS Two-Way AI Noise Cancellation, and the ASUS Adaptive Dimming and Adaptive Lock features.
Performance for Any Task
In addition to managing AI tasks, the laptop should also be capable of handling daily activities, including internet browsing, word processing, and video conferencing. Depending on the user's profession, there may be a need to perform more demanding tasks such as operating creative applications for image or video editing. Furthermore, enough storage space for large files is also essential.
A laptop that is well-equipped for a variety of work tasks should feature an adequate CPU, such as an Intel Core Ultra, AMD Ryzen AI 300, or the latest Snapdragon X Series processors. These CPUs boast NPUs designed for AI processing and integrated GPUs that are suitable for everyday tasks, multimedia editing, and casual gaming. The brand continued nowadays a minimum of 16 GB of RAM is recommended for optimal performance. Additionally, it is beneficial to have a substantial amount of storage space, with 1 TB being the preferred starting point.
Flexibility for Working Anywhere
ASUS noted lightweight and slim laptops are a lot easier to bring anywhere. The brand is offering several AI PCs that weigh 1.5kg or lower and have a thin profile of 1.5cm or below. For screen size, 15.6-16 inches is the ideal size for enough space to work while also not being too large.
The company added having a durable and long-lasting battery is crucial for continuous work from any place. It mentioned the latest ASUS AI PCs offer up to 18 hours of uninterrupted productivity on a single charge. This means users can go through a full workday without the need for a charger, allowing for lighter travel and sufficient battery life for leisure activities on the way home.
Buyers should also look at models with a variety of I/O ports. ASUS recommended having USB4 (ideally with power delivery and display support), USB 3.2 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 slot, and an audio jack could be your choice for this area. Additionally, a laptop equipped with a MicroSD card reader can be extremely useful, especially for those involved in photography or video editing.
ASUS mentioned the Vivobook S 15 checks those features above such as having a slim and lightweight design with measurements of 1.47mm thin and 1.42kg weight, a 15.6-inch display with 3K resolution, and 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon X Plus AI chip, more than 19 hours of battery, ASUS Copilot+ PC, Windows 11 OS + ASUS AI-powered apps.
You may head to the ASUS website or authorized stores to purchase this laptop which has a starting price of PHP 69,995 + ASUS 4A Quality and Service warranty.
