Local telco giant PLDT and its wireless arm Smart assured ist subscribers of stable network services amid the heavy rains and flooding brought by Tropical Cyclone Enteng in several parts of the Philippine archipelago.

According to the telco, they also deployed manpower and resources have also been prepositioned to provide assistance to affected communities.
During its 8:00 AM bulletin today, weather bureau @DOST PAGASA reported that Tropical Storm #EntengPH was estimated at 100 km North Northwest of Daet, Camarines Norte. It has a 75 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 90 km/h, the storm is seen affecting parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, and the Visayas.
PLDT and Smart also activated FREEcall/charging/wifi to assist Enteng-affected communities.
PLDT and Smart are coordinating with local government units to activate Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging and Libreng WiFi stations that will provide much needed communication services as aid to local residents and response teams.
According to the telco group, beginning September 3, Tuesday, FREE calling, charging and WiFi services will be available in the following areas:
- Brgy Hall Calauag, Naga City
- Covered Court, Municipal Hall, Magarao, Camarines Sur
- TBC, Municipality of Camaligan, Camarines Sur
Also, in partnership with Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO), the group was able to send timely alerts and precautionary advisories to residents via the PLDT and Smart Infocast platform. It is a web-based text-broadcasting solution that enables organizations to easily distribute important information to community members, the Infocast service supplements ongoing preparedness and response efforts of APSEMO.
