HONOR X7c Unboxing, First Impressions, and Camera Samples - Big battery, water splash resistant

We look closer at the new HONOR X7c with the Snapdragon 685 octa-core processor, a 6,000mAh battery and IP64 water and dust resistance.

HONOR X7c's unique rear pattern design

The X7c is HONOR's latest affordable mid-ranger equipped with a massive 6,000mAh battery, 35W SuperCharge fast charging and 5-star Drop and Washable Water resistance.

The phone features a 6.77-inch TFT HD LCD, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 SoC, an Adreno 610 GPU, 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage. At the back are the 108MP main camera and the 2MP depth camera while in front is the 8MP selfie camera.

Other features include a 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The phone is priced at PHP 8,999 in the Philippines.

It comes in white packaging with HONOR branding, phone render, key features, and regulatory information.

The phone, the 35W SuperCharge wall plug, USB-A to USB-C cable, the SIM ejector, silicone case, and documentation are inside the box. 

Unfortunately, there are no earphones in the box.

Build Quality/Design

HONOR X7c's rear design

At first glance, the phone looks eye-catching because of the forest green color with flat sides. In between the glass front curved panel and the rear polycarbonate frame and polycarbonate rear panel.

The back is unique a faux tumbled leather pattern with a diagonal pattern. Also at the back is the large square camera module, the HONOR branding and the regulatory information. 

Upon holding the phone, you immediately notice the softened edges of the flat sides. Because of the textured surfaces of the sides and the rear panel, it is resistant to fingerprint smudges. We still recommend wearing a silicone case.

It measures 166.9 x 76.8 x 8.09 mm and weighs 199 grams. It is IP64 water and dust resistance rated and has a 5-star rating for drops.

HONOR X7c's front display

In front is the aforementioned 6.77-inch TFT LCD screen with a 1,610 x 720 resolution and covers 16.7 Million colors. There is no mention of any form of glass protection.

Around the panel are slim top and side bezels with the bottom chin being thicker than the rest. The punch hole with the selfie camera is on the upper part of the panel. Above it and inside the top bezel is the super slim earpiece. The same slim earpiece acts as the second speaker too.

Top and rear view

On top is the microphone port and an IR blaster while at the bottom are the bottom-firing speaker grills, USB-C port, microphone port, and 3.5mm audio jack.

SIM tray

The SIM tray accommodates up to two nano SIM cards or 1 nano SIM and 1 microSD card. There is a red rubber gasket but OPPO says that the phone is supposedly IP64 water and dust resistance rated.

We even poured running cold water on the ports in one of our social media postings.

Left and right side

On the left is the SIM card tray while on the right are the polycarbonate volume rocker and the power button/ fingerprint scanner. Both buttons have a firm resistance to them while feeling satisfying when pressed.

HONOR X7c Rear cameras

The back has the 108MP f/1.75 main camera and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor with an LED flash.

While in front is an 8 MP f/2.0 selfie camera.

The included modes of the stock camera app include Photo, Video, Portrait, Night, Aperture, Pro, Slo-Mo, Panorama, HDR Photo, Time-lapse, Watermark, Dual-View, High-Res, Scan Document and Story.

The Pro controls include metering (Matrix, Center, and Spot), EV (+-4), ISO (100-6,400), Shutter speed (1/4,000-8 secs), Focus, and White Balance.

The Portrait Mode is equally robust with bokeh strength control (f/0.95-16), and Beautifcations (10-levels).

Powering the phone is the 6,000mAh Battery with 35W SuperCharge fast charging via USB-C.

Alongside the 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 octa-core processor and  Adreno 610 GPU are the 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and microSD card expansion. With the HONOR RAM Turbo, users can access an extra 8GB of RAM by using internal storage.

The phone comes with stereo speakers that can be pushed to 300 percent volume.

At PHP 8,990, the X7c offers unique features such as a 108MP rear main camera, an IP64 water resistance, a 5-star drop rating, and a large 6,000mAh battery.

Let's not forget the lightweight polycarbonate frame and the unique diagonal pattern on the rear panel. It gives the phone a unique look while making it resistant to fingerprint smudges.

The Snapdragon 685 is 4G only and has been around for a while but should not be underestimated as it is still a good-performing processor for the price range.
