Slim and stylish design |
Build/Design - Both phones appear to be structurally sound and neat looking for the price with a good chance of lasting for several years.
But, the winner in this round is the Infinix HOT 50 Pro+.
Why? It uses a more premium Titanium Feather Frame architecture and Pine 9419 material which allows the phone to be super slim at 6.8m and lightweight at 162 grams while keeping the handset extra durable. The display is also 3D curved with Corning's Gorilla Glass protection to minimize the risk of shattering its glass when dropped and prevent hairline scratches.
The only slightly thicker part of the phone is its camera bump.

Full back design |
While the OPPO A60 has all-angle body protection which allows it to pass the MIL-STD810 military-grade shock resistance certification and a display with KK6 glass protection, it doesn't feel as premium as the Infinix HOT 50 Pro+.
The Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ is the slimmer and more premium-looking offering
The HOT 50 Pro+ also appears more resistant to drops as it didn't sustain any scratches or dents when we accidentally dropped it during the product shoot-out. The OPPO A60 received a small dent in the top corner when it accidentally slipped on my hand.
Both come with an IP54 rating to protect them from dust ingress and accidental water splashes, sweat, and rain.

Curved display with slimmer bezels or flat with a thicker chin bezel? |
Multimedia experience - Let's make it quick. The 6.78-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED screen of the Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ is superior to the 6.67-inch LCD 90Hz panel with lower HD+ resolution of the OPPO A60.
Curved FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED vs HD+ 90Hz LCD
Despite being the more affordable device, the Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ has a sleeker-looking 3D curved AMOLED panel which provides richer colors, deeper blacks, smoother fresh rate, and a crisper resolution.
The handset even has a snappy In-Display fingerprint reader which is rare at this price point.
Even the bezels are way slimmer for a more immersive viewing experience.
It even has Always On Display which can provide some information on the screen even when the phone is locked as well as the Dynamic Bar support that displays important service information similar to Apple's Dynamic Island.
|
The cameras |
Cameras - The Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ uses a 50MP Sony IMX582 + 2MP macro + AI sensor.
Meanwhile, the OPPO A60 uses a 50MP f/1.8 w/ AF, open-loop focus motor + 2MP f/2.4 black and white + Turbo Torch flashlight.
On the selfie side, the HOT 50 Pro+ uses a 13MP f/2.2 sensor while the OPPO A60 sports an 8MP shooter but a slightly brighter f/1.8 aperture.
|
Well-lit snap |
In our tests, both did well in well-lit conditions. The shot from OPPO offers a slightly more saturated snap while Infinix has the more balanced colors with a shallower depth of field.
|
Close-up images |
For indoor close-up shots, the exposure is clearly brighter with OPPO. However, the HOT 50 Pro+ is undeniably sharper and better.
|
2x zoom dim |
In dimmer conditions, the trend is the same. The HOT 50 Pro+ produces images with crisper details with a slightly wider field of view. It focuses on the subject better and blurs the background. Meanwhile, the A60 shot is decent in quality and has a warmer tone.
|
Portrait mode |
|
Portrait mode 100 percent crop |
For indoor Portraits, the two are okay for the price. By default, the A60 softens the skin and the edges. The shot looks blurrier. While it has some grain, the HOT 50 Pro+ snap is sharper with more natural colors, better subject to background separation, and nicer edge detection.
|
Low light (No Night mode) |
|
Low light (With Night mode) |
Without the Night mode, the HOT 50 Pro+ blew the A60 when taking cityscapes in the dark. Colors are truer, grain is minimal, and the exposure is better. The A60 failed to handle lights nicely here.
With the Night mode, the sharpness and dynamic range of the A60 shot improved, but the winner is still the HOT 50 Pro+ due to its better sharpness and exposure.
|
Indoor selfie |
For selfies, the OPPO A60 with 8MP has a slightly wider aperture resulting in brighter selfies. It also has better colors compared to the underexposed tones of the 13MP of the HOT 50 Pro+. But, the HOT 50 Pro+ selfie focuses better for a sharper camera output.
The HOT 50 Pro+ has the ability to record up to 2K resolution. But, the quality is slightly better and more stable at 1080p. Meanwhile, the A60 records up to 1080p only.
Both are usable, but videos are not their strongest suits unless your hands are really steady or you have a stabilizer or a tripod.

AnTuTu scores |
Specs - The Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ is the better phone on paper which translates in real-life performance.
The combination of 6nm MediaTek Helio G100 octa-core chip with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB internal storage of the Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ is simply stronger than the Snapdragon 680, 8GB RAM, 256GB of the OPPO A60.
|
MLBB settings of HOT 50 Pro+ |
It is faster when opening apps and can run some demanding games a little better. Casual games like MLBB? No problem. We noticed that it handled CapCut Pro 1080p video rendering a little faster too.
Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ is the faster smartphone
For the benchmark geeks, we tried AnTuTu and the HOT 50 Pro+ scored 436,650 while the A60 got 318,188. See the rest of the benchmark scores we got below.
|
Geekbench scores of the phones |
In the battery department, both have a 5,000mAh capacity with similar experiences that can last for a work day with around 20-30 percent of juice left in the tank.
But, OPPO gets a little ahead in the 45W SUPERVOOC compared to Infinix's 33W. A 30-minute charge can give up to 50 percent juice for OPPO and 40 percent for Infinix.
The two have batteries that are rated to last for up to 4 years before degrading
We were surprised that the thermals of the HOT 50 Pro+ are also decent even if there is no special cooling system and it is slimmer than the A60.
For connectivity, both don't have 5G. But, the 4G experience is stable. They are generally similar in signal reception, GPS, and overall connectivity experiences.
The two phones also have stereo speakers. The OPPO A60 has the advantage of loudness even if the HOT 50 Pro+ speakers were built in collaboration with audio firm JBL. But one could argue that the distortion at maximum loudness is slightly lesser on the HOT 50 Pro+.
For software, both run with Android 14 OS. They differ in the skins used. The Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ is equipped with XOS 14.5 while the OPPO A60 arrived with ColorOS 14.
Both are familiar and very easy to use. I just slightly prefer the cleanliness of the ColorOS 14 interface.
The HOT 50 Pro+ even has a 5-year fluency rating from TÜV Rheinland suggesting that the phone is optimized to perform like almost new for a long time. In comparison, the OPPO A60 has 4 years.
Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ advantages - Slimmer and sleeker build, sharper AMOLED panel, stronger overall performance, better primary camera, guarantees smoother performance longer
OPPO A60 advantages - Faster 45W charging, slightly louder speaker
Our thoughts
|
Infinix HOT 50 Pro+, slimmer and better |
The OPPO A60 is a decent budget phone in terms of durability. It has a slightly faster 45W charging tech as well.
However, the Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ surpasses it in nearly every aspect, including display quality, overall performance speed, and camera quality, while offering similar or even better durability and reliability.
Most impressively, the Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ stands out as one of the most competitive smartphones in its class, particularly because it is the slimmest option at this price point.
