Qualcomm recently held its Investor Day where the company teased an upcoming affordable Snapdragon X processor alternative for Windows.
The chipmaker even noted the price range is targeted at around USD 600 (around PHP 35K). So far there's no official name for it but many news outlets coined it as vanilla "Snapdragon X".
So far there have been two chipsets in the group such as the Snapdragon X Plus featuring 8 or 10-core CPUs while there's also the Snapdragon X Elite with 12-core CPUs which is the top-end among its variants.
Qualcomm also indicated that its powerful NPU processor, which is utilized in the Snapdragon X series, will also be included in the less costly Snapdragon X, implying that the Copilot+ will be available on lower-cost Windows laptops. Other rivals are not currently offering this. They normally reserve their powerful NPUs for higher-end chips, so this may give the firm an advantage over other players.
For now, there's no clear timeframe for its availability and Qualcomm hasn't mentioned anything just yet. Reports suggest the nearest possibility fans may see it will be at CES 2025.
What do you guys think?
