TikTok is back for now

The reason? President-elect Trump recently said that he would try to temporarily stop the ban with an executive order on his first day in office.

The Associated Press reported that Trump planned to issue the order to give TikTok's parent company more time to find an approved buyer before the ban takes full effect.

TikTok in the U.S. said on X that Trump outlined steps Trump outlined Sunday provided "the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties".

The app is still unavailable for download in Google Play Store and Apple App Store though.

To recap, TikTok went dark earlier making over 170 million US users including content creators based in the country lose access to the app. Apps of other ByteDance service (TikTok parent company) like CapCut and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang also went down in the U.S. after.

TikTok said that President Trump has indicated that he will work with the company on a solution to reinstate the app once he takes office on January 20, 2025 (U.S. time).
