Is a new MacBook Air coming soon?

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says Apple is reportedly preparing to launch the M4 version of the MacBook Air, available in both 13-inch and 15-inch display sizes. The company’s sales, retail, and marketing teams are said to be actively gearing up for the release.

Gurman also mentioned that inventory levels for the current M2 and M3 models are running low, which could indicate a transition to the new lineup. The timing of the M4 MacBook Air’s launch may align with last year’s schedule, as Apple introduced the M3 edition around March 2023.

To recall, the M4 chip uses 2nd generation of a 3nm process featuring a 10-core CPU, and 10-core GPU. The CPU comprises 4x performance cores + 6x efficiency cores bringing 1.5x better performance against the M2 chip.

Meanwhile, it is the same processor found in the current iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and iMac announced last October 2024.

Apart from the chip, there's not much information yet revolving around the upcoming MacBook Air. Reports suggest we may see Thunderbolt 4 support, Center Stage camera, or a nano-texture display as an upgrade.

What do you guys think?
