HONOR X9c Smart 5G launched in PH: Durable/water-resistant + Dimensity 7025 Ultra, starts at PHP 10,799

Following the teaser, HONOR finally unveils the X9c Smart 5G as a budget-durable phone alternative.

Affordable yet still tough

To recap, it is marketed as a toned-down version of the X9c 5G but still carries the iconic All-Angle 360-degree drop resistance made to withstand accidental drops up to 2 meters plus it also has some level of water resistance to survive quick dips or splashes. HONOR says it can handle up to 25 cm depth for 5 minutes or 50cm depth for 2 minutes.

Furthermore, the phone can also survive hot or cold temperatures ranging from negative 30 degrees Celsius up to 55 degrees Celsius.

HONOR X9c Smart 5G design

Its "back" has 3000 Steel Wool scratch resistance thanks to the Polycarbonate Polymethyl Methacrylate cover which HONOR is known for. The brand claims this should survive accidental scratches from coins, keys, or keychains.

The phone is available in three colorways Ocean Cyan, Midnight Black, and Moonlight White. At the rear, you'll see a circular camera island and below the logo of the brand.

The display

Facing it upward, you'll see the 6.8-inch TFT LCD screen with 2412 x 1080 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 16.7M colors, and 20.1:9 aspect ratio.

Powering the device is the 2.5GHz 6nm MTK Dimenasity 7025-Ultra octa-core processor with IMG BXM-8-256 GPU, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, 5,800mAh battery + 35W USB-C HONOR SuperCharge.

For cameras, the phone uses a 108MP main shooter with f/1.8 aperture and PDAF although it lacks the OIS of the regular X9c model. It is then paired with a 5MP shooter for ultra-wide. In front, it uses a 16MP f/2.45 selfie camera.

Other features noted are a side-mounted fingerprint reader and a single loudspeaker.

Connectivity-wise, it has 5G, 4G LTE, WiFi 5 (2.4GHz/5GHz), GPS, NFC and dual SIM.

For OS, the phone runs Android 14 with MagicOS 8.0 out of the box.
