HUAWEI opens Innovative Foldable Pop-up Store in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Tech giant HUAWEI is currently showcasing its latest products and innovations including the new Mate XT tri-fold smartphone.

The company is holding the Innovative Foldable Pop-up Store exhibit at the Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur from February 19 to 25, 2025.

The items on display are the newly launched HUAWEI Mate XT, the first "tri-fold" smartphone for the global market, Mate X6, MatePads, several watches, and earbuds.

The highlight of the even is the the showcase of the HUAWEI Mate XT Advanced Precision Hinge System where the company displayed every component and processes from forging, engraving, milling, layering, texturing, coloring, and assembly. 

According to the company, it took them 22 days to complete the 78 steps to complete one phone.

This solution allowed the device to fold in opposite directions and fold into 3 screens.

To recap, the smartphone when fully folded at 6.4-inch with FHD+ 1080p resolution, a compact tablet at a 7.9-inch screen with a 2K resolution that is great for running two apps at the same time, and a regular large tablet mode at 10.2-inch with 16:11 aspect ratio for a wide viewing experience.

Naked-Eye 3D Viewing

Also, HUAWEI showed that it is capable of Naked-Eye 3D Viewing by folding one of its displays. It's like having a pocketable 3D billboard.

They also showcased the Mate X6 high-end foldable smartphone with durable structure inside out featuring an advanced precision hinge made of 1900 MPa ultra-high-strength steel and an IPX8 rating for water resistance.

Similar to what the company demoed at SM Megamall, it is capable of lifting a 150-kilogram motorcycle. See the full specs here.

MatePad Pro 13.2-inch 2025 PaperMatte display showcase

The exhibit also highlighted the new MatePad Pro 13.2-inch 2025 with a 13.2-inch OLED PaperMatte display with 120Hz refresh rate, 2.8K resolution, and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. In the event area, HUAWEI shows the anti-glare capabilities of this display.

This also has PC-level capabilities and apps to enhance productivity like a NearLink keyboard, M-Pencil, WPS Office, Notes, and GoPaint to name a few. Read here for more info.
