I was in Bangkok, Thailand recently for work (not vacation, unfortunately), and during my downtime, I decided to do a little exploring. Coincidentally, it was also Chinese New Year week, which meant Bangkok was extra lively, with red lanterns, golden decorations, and festive vibes everywhere––perfect for some quick snaps! Good thing I brought the TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G with me. |
My travel companion in Bangkok: the TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G |
Note: The TECNO CAMON 40 Pro 5G was released last MWC 2025, but there is no word on when will it be available in PH yet. The CAMON 30 Pro 5G might still sell in some retail stores.
And no, I’m not a pro photographer, far from it actually, but that’s exactly why I wanted to test this phone—to see if it could make casual snapshots look amazing. Spoiler alert: It delivered.
Here are three reasons why the TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G turned my Bangkok photo walk into a visual treat:
1. Wide Photo Angle, Wide Photo Possibilities - I love taking wide shots, but sometimes they end up looking soft or distorted—especially on some flagship phones I've tried. The 0.6x ultra-wide lens on the CAMON 30 Pro 5G surprised me with how sharp and detailed it was.

Take, for example, my shot of the Gundam statue in Siam Center—the crisp details and vibrant colors really popped.
I was able to fit the Gundam statue in Siam Center on one frame thanks to CAMON 30 Pro 5G's wide-angle lens.
I wonder if I can fit this in my luggage?
Even a sweeping view of Bangkok's skyline from my hotel in Holiday Inn Sukhumvit turned out stunning, capturing all the city's energy in one frame. The 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensor definitely pulled its weight here!

2. Smart AI Camera, Smartly Adapts to Any Environment - I'll be the first to admit—I’m the type who just points and shoots. Fortunately, the AI camera on the CAMON 30 Pro 5G adjusted smartly whether I was indoors or outdoors. Based on my personal experience, the AI adjustments worked really well in various lighting conditions.

Daytime shots in Sukhumvit looked naturally bright and balanced, while the Chinese New Year decorations inside the malls had all the right colors without looking overexposed.

INDOOR: Dragon installation at the EmQuartier Mall – Vibrant colors all over |
As for selfies, I rarely take them. But hey, first time in Thailand so I had to do it! The AI Smart Beauty Effect, paired with CAMON 30 Pro 5G's 50MP front cam with Eye AF, gave me the confidence to just go crazy with the selfies because it made sure I looked sharp without any effort.

3. Super Night Mode, Super Vibrant Shots - Bangkok doesn't sleep, and neither does the CAMON 30 Pro 5G. I was at Horsamut for dinner when I saw the beautifully lit Wat Kalayanamit Woramahawihan and Wat Arun across the river. I took a few shots using Super Night Mode, and the results were impressive—clear, detailed, and not overly processed.

Even casual night shots from my hotel window and along the area I stayed in turned out great, capturing the city lights without that weird grainy look. The 50MP Sony IMX890 main sensor with OIS and AI processing definitely helped stabilize low-light shots.

Our thoughts
At around PHP 15K (sale price), the TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G proved to be a solid travel companion.
Whether I was taking ultra-wide cityscapes, quick point-and-shoot moments, or nighttime shots, it handled everything with ease. Add in the 144Hz AMOLED display, 5,000mAh battery with 70W Ultra Charge, and MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chip, and you've got a phone that delivers way more than its price suggests
Would I take it on another trip? Absolutely. Even as a casual shooter, I felt like I had a "pro-like" camera in my pocket despite its affordable price.
