HUAWEI tapped for Toyota's electric sedan

Toyota has partnered with HUAWEI to feature the HarmonyOS in the car manufacturer’s latest electric vehicle launched in China.

The Toyota bZ7, set for full launch later this year, was introduced during the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show, according to reports.

To deliver cars people want in China, we need Chinese brains and hands involved in development, said Li Hui, general manager of Toyota China.

HarmonyOS was designed to work across a wide range of smart devices, including smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and smartwatches. This allows different devices to connect and collaborate seamlessly, pooling their capabilities.

Reports noted that the bZ7 adopts Toyota’s C-shaped through-type headlight design on the closed front face. Its roof has lidar, which implies advanced driving assistance capabilities (ADAS).

Given HUAWEI’s existing supply of the HarmonyOS cockpit system, it's also plausible that the ADAS originates from the Huawei ADS advanced driving system.

The rear features through-type taillights, a high brake light, and a small wing. Along the side, a sloping roof flows into the rear wing, paired with semi-hidden door handles and 21-inch multi-spoke wheels.

More information about the vehicle will be shared soon.

What do you think, guys?
