Pricier iPhones are coming?

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the company may defend this move with the release of new features and design updates.

Citing sources privy to the matter, the report stated that Apple was careful not to pin the blame on recent controversial tariff policies of the American government, particularly against China.

Earlier reports stated that if Apple decides to pass the additional costs to consumers because of the current trade situation, iPhone units would become 30 percent to 40 percent more expensive.

China, a known foe of the US in trade, is an important hub for Apple, as most of its devices are manufactured there.

Despite the tension between the two economic powerhouses, Apple will still keep its large-scale production of its Pro and Pro Max smartphones in China.

But the company is also exploring ways to boost its production in India. However, India may not carry premium models given the country’s lack of strong infrastructure and technical expertise.
