A new successor to the nova 13 series soon?

The HUAWEI nova 14 series is expected to launch in China this May, as per the tipster Digital Chat Station. The leaker also added it will feature a refined design alongside significant hardware and software upgrades. Furthermore, the lineup may include an Ultra variant, expanding the brand's mid-range offerings.

Reports suggest the nova 14 series will sport 6.7-inch to 6.8-inch OLED displays with 120Hz refresh rates, ensuring smooth visuals.

Inside, the devices are rumored to be powered by Kirin 9-series chipsets, with the nova 14 and 14 Pro offering 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. The Ultra model could push with a 1TB storage option.

Camera improvements are also expected, including a new multi-spectral sensor and a 12MP telephoto lens, similar to the Nova 13 Pro. These upgrades aim to enhance imaging capabilities, building on the success of its predecessor’s 50MP variable aperture cameras and 60MP selfie lenses.

The nova 14 series will run HarmonyOS 5, which promises a 30 percent smoother user interface and over 15,000 native apps. The operating system introduces the "Ark Engine" for improved performance and an AI-powered Celia assistant for better multitasking and cross-device synchronization.

Pricing is expected to start at around CNY 3,000 (around PHP 23.1K), positioning the nova 14 as a strong contender in the mid-range segment. Meanwhile, rumor suggests the Ultra model could rival devices like the vivo V50, however, global availability remains uncertain.

The official launch will confirm whether HUAWEI's latest AI and camera enhancements can solidify its position in the competitive smartphone market.
