Advanced health tracker soon in PH!

A HUAWEI executive showcased the Watch 5's top features at the launch event of the Watch Fit 4 Series. He also stated that the device will arrive soon in the Philippines, which means health enthusiasts and sporty people don't have to wait long to experience the next high-end wearable.

To recap, the device boasts a refined design, improved health monitoring, and enhanced usability, including the brand’s new X-Tap sensor—a multi-sensing module designed to streamline health tracking and enable faster interactions.

Both watch models are crafted with premium materials such as spherical sapphire glass and a choice of aerospace-grade titanium, 904L stainless steel, or 316L stainless steel, available in various colors and strap options.

The Watch 5 is offered in two sizes: a 46mm version with a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display and a 42mm variant with a 1.38-inch screen.

Both displays deliver a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. A notable upgrade is the X-Tap sensor, located on the side of the watch, which combines an ECG sensor, a PPG sensor, and a 10-level tactile sensor.

According to HUAWEI, this setup enables real-time fingertip blood oxygen (SpO2) measurements in about 10 seconds and a "Health Glance" scan that compiles 11 health metrics in under a minute. The company asserts that fingertip pulse wave signals offer greater accuracy and responsiveness than traditional bottom-mounted sensors.

The watch also uses gesture recognition, powered by a dedicated neural processing unit, allowing users to manage calls, music, alarms, and camera controls via double-taps or finger slides. These gestures are optimized when paired with HUAWEI smartphones. Additionally, the device supports over 100 workout modes, with improved tracking accuracy thanks to the new Sunflower Positioning System.

Battery life varies by model: the 46mm version lasts up to 4.5 days in standard mode and 11 days in battery saver mode, while the 42mm model offers up to 3 days and 7 days, respectively. Charging is handled wirelessly via the included second-generation SuperCharger. Connectivity features include eSIM support, Wi-Fi 6, dual-band GNSS, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC payments. The watch is also built for durability, with 5 ATM water resistance and IP69 certification.

We've already spotted the actual unit at the Bonifacio High Street Activity Center in BGC. So if you're curious, you may check the venue and experience it firsthand until May 24.

Finally, HUAWEI did not mention the exact date but has already confirmed it will arrive soon in the Philippines.
